What you Need to Know About Voting

If you don't know where to vote, or for whom you are voting, we can help.

 

The July 31 primary is almost here.

If you haven’t register to vote, you must do so on or before July 2.

Where do you register to vote?

In the Clarke County Voter Registration Office on Washington Street. They are open Monday to Friday, 8 to 5pm. On July 2, the office will remain open until 6pm.

You can download forms from the Board of Elections Website and mail those in as well.

You can also pick up forms at the and at other locations in the county, which you will then mail in You can also downtown and mail in your registration.

What or whom am I voting for?

On July 31, voters will select two new members of the Athens Clarke County Commission, in .

Voters will also select candidates for the Georgia House of Representatives and the U.S. Congress.

In Athens, we are voting on whether to add another penny to the seven cents we already pay in sales taxes. This penny would be collected in many Northeast Georgia counties around Athens-Clarke County, and would help fund various transportation projects in the region.

How do I learn where I vote and who’s running?

The Georgia Secretary of State has a huge database called My Voter Page. You enter your name, address and age, and it tells you where you vote and for whom and even shows you a sample ballot. it's very cool
