4 Clarke County Students Picked for 51st Annual Governor’s Honors Program

The residential summer program at Valdosta State is for gifted and talented high school juniors and seniors.

Four Clarke County students have been named finalists and will be attending the Governor’s Honors Program, a residential summer program at Valdosta State for gifted and talented high school juniors and seniors.

“Our Governor’s Honors Program finalists are undoubtedly exceptional students who will represent our district well,” said Superintendent Philip D. Lanoue in the press release. “I commend them for developing such a deep intellectual curiosity in their disciplines, and look forward to them being able to take advantage of this unique educational enrichment opportunity.”

Students selected were:

  • Abbey Campbell, Cedar Shoals, Social Studies
  • Gemma English, Clarke Central, Communicative Arts
  • Aaron Holmes, Clarke Central, Communicative Arts
  • Briah Thompson-Carter, Cedar Shoals, Agriscience/Environmental Science

Cedar Shoals students Angelina Choi (Cello) and Shelby Marquardt (Theatre Design) were named alternates.
