AthFest awards over $30K in music grants to Clarke County School District

The grants go to a variety of schools.

AthFest recently awarded a total of 28 grants for schools and individual Clarke County teachers to enhance music education programs. Totaling $33,893.93, the grants will be used for musical instruments, performances, scholarships and more.

“AthFest is one of the school district’s most committed partners who support the arts in our schools, and their support is making a difference for all students every day,” said Superintendent Philip D. Lanoue. “We are committed to a strong arts program, and AthFest has been a champion in this cause – even recently making their official mission to support arts education.”

Twelve of the grants were given to elementary schools, specifically for instruments. This set of grants totaled $20,028.93. Seventeen mini-grants were given to teachers in amounts ranging from $350-$2,000 for instruments, performances, supplies, scholarships and more.

The eighteen schools that received the grants are: Alps Road Elementary, Barnett Shoals Elementary, Barrow Elementary, Burney-Harris-Lyons Middle, Cedar Shoals High, Chase Street Elementary, Clarke Central High, Cleveland Road Elementary, Coile Middle, Fowler Drive Elementary, Gaines Elementary, Hilsman Middle, Oglethorpe Avenue Elementary, Stroud Elementary, Timothy Road Elementary, Whit David Elementary, Whitehead Road Elementary and Winterville Elementary.

“These grant awards are another example of AthFest’s continued support of the arts in our schools,” said Noris Price, Deputy Superintendent. “Through this support, we will be able to strengthen our arts program and overall education of our students.”
