Clarke County Educators Honored for Excellence and Service

Nine professionals receive $$ from the Foundation for Excellence in Education.

Clarke County’s Foundation for Excellence in Education has presented awards to nine people in the Clarke County School District for their outstanding service to students.

Eric Blake, , will received $1,200 for two years as the winner of the Cardee Kilpatrick Middle School Teaching Award.

Five awards of $500 were given to teachers with five or more years experience in the classroom. This year’s winners include:

            Vernellia Wade, Alps Road Elementary School

Jessica Ellett, a kindergarten teacher at School, got a $500 award as an outstanding teacher with less that four years of experience.

Receiving the $500 Kathryn H. Hug Instructional Leadership Award  was Andy Plemmons, media specialist at

The $500 Howard B. Stroud Award for Community Service went to Lauren Cunningham, secretary at School.
