Film Athens is opening a satellite office in the Athens Community Career Academy Film Lab. This classroom, located on the school district's H.T. Edwards Campus, houses digital film production equipment and over 20 film editing stations.

Film Athens will offer education on a variety of film-related subjects like screenwriting, sound, lighting and editing. Workshops will be open to the community with space reserved free of charge for Clarke County students and teachers. Students will have access to Film Athens’ extensive network of film professionals with the possibility to get hands on production experience and internships.

“We are very excited about this partnership with the Clarke County School District and look forward to providing CCSD students with exposure to the creative process and career opportunities within the film and digital media industry,” said Danielle Robarge Rusk, Film Athens Executive Director. “This collaboration will benefit the entire community and increase our ability to participate in Georgia's rapidly expanding film industry. Our goal is to start offering workshops early in 2014.”
