Road Elementary School is ready for some renovation.
The school plans a groundbreaking Tuesday, April 8, launching a project that built a new 109,000-square-foot school building.
The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
Here’s more info on the new school from a Clarke County Schools press release:
The new Whitehead Road Elementary School will be a result of multiple design considerations to provide for the next generation of elementary school facilities in the Clarke County School District. The new multi-story school building will be approximately 109,000 square feet in size, incorporating classroom wings for each grade level, multiple collaborative learning spaces and flex spaces for special purpose programs. The building will include classrooms for art and music, a new gymnasium, kitchen/cafeteria, professional development space and an administrative wing.
The site will include separate vehicle drives/parking, a dedicated school bus drive and drop-off area and staff parking lot. Appropriate playground areas, garden space and site landscaping is included.
A portion of the existing school building will remain in place for future use as a standalone facility.
All funding is from SPLOST.
