Selecting a public school principal isn't a simple process in Athens.

Since Lanoue began serving as superintendent in July 2009, principal interviews have been conducted with a Tier I and II process. Specific to Price’s hire, the Cedar Shoals School Council and Parent Information Network selected four parent representatives, teachers selected four teacher representatives and a high school principal served on the committee as well.

Qualified applicants are forwarded to the Tier I committee, and they select and interview candidates. From there, the committee recommends up to three candidates to the superintendent. The Tier II committee then conducts interviews and the superintendent determines if he will make a recommendation or re-launch the search process. Those serving on the Tier II committee for the Cedar Shoals principal interviews were the superintendent, deputy superintendent, associate superintendent for district services and assistant superintendent for human resources.

“I look forward to serving as principal of Cedar Shoals High School next year and building strong partnerships with the school community,” said Price. “I have had such valuable experiences at Hilsman and Clarke Central, and am ready for new challenges and opportunities at Cedar Shoals.”
