Want To Learn About The Charter School Commission Amendment? Come on!

The Clarke Central High School PTO is sponsoring a forum on Amendment 1 tonight at Mell Auditorium in Athens, Ga.

 

It's been in the news for weeks, the charter school amendment. It will create a state commission, with an unknown membership, who will decided if a charter school can set up shop in a community, whether or not the local school board approves.

Critics believe the measure adds another level of bureaucracy and siphons off dwindling state dollars from established, striving public schools. Proponents argued that public schools aren't doing their jobs and charter schools will work
