Athens PRIDE Weekend (APW) 2013 presented by Power 100.1 Athens #1 Music Station will be held Thursday, September 12- Sunday, September 15. All members of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer (LGBTQ) and Straight Ally community are invited to attend these fabulous events.
With the recent Supreme Court rulings against DOMA and Prop 8, I am especially looking forward to this year's PRIDE.
More and more people in the South and all over the country are moving away from the hate that has plagued the LGBTQ & Straight Ally community. So for me, the intent of APW is to further the idea that love is the new normal. These events are created to celebrate diversity and equality in the Classic City.

As an Athens PRIDE board member, my goals for the weekend are always to raise visibility and inspire unity. I hope that this year’s events will increase participation from everyone but especially youth and families. We want all that attend to feel safe, welcomed and appreciated. I hope to see you at some events.
