732 Wishes Granted

Georgia United Credit Union Grants 732 Wishes for Area Foster Children through Annual Wish Tree Program, 119 of those wishes came from the UGA and Athens branches.

Georgia United Credit Union held its 22nd annual Wish Tree program to collect new toys and articles of clothing for deserving foster children with local Departments of Family & Children’s Services (DFCS) during the month of December. Georgia United invited individuals, schools, or civic groups, to participate by dropping off a gift at the nearest Georgia United Branch by December 12 so deliveries could be made to DFCS prior to Christmas.

The Christmas Wish Tree Program is one of Georgia United’s longest running and most successful community service projects with an estimated 13,000 gifts donated to multiple county DFCS offices during the 22 year old tenure of the program.

Warren Butler, Georgia United’s President and CEO, commented in a news release, “Georgia United has always been involved in the communities we serve across the state. As the economy continues to experience challenges, we wanted to reach out to our community to help us provide toys for deserving children right here at home. Thanks to the many individuals, companies and school groups who participated and donated items such as bicycles and i-pods.”
