Find Your Sled and Snow Boots! You May Need Them!

Clarke County schools closing early on Tuesday.

It's coming. At last. Probably.

The National Weather Service says the Athens area has a 60 percent chance of having snow, beginning Tuesday afternoon after 2pm, when the temperature will crest at 34 degrees. Adding to the delightful temps will be wind gusts of as much as 20mph. Before the snow, we're likely to get sleet.

If snow doesn't come Tuesday afternoon, look for it Tuesday night, when the temperatures drops to 20 and the chance of precipitation rises to 90 percent after midnight. Athens may accumulate half an inch.

Wednesday's temperatures will rise to 38 degrees. Those pesky winds will continue to make things feel colder--winds could reach 15mph. Wednesday night, the temperature is expected to plummet to 18 degrees. It's going to be clear, so no more snow.

Thursday will be sunny. Can't wait for that!
