Get Tickets, Celebrate Printing, See Santa and Other Activities

The holiday season is stuffed with activities.

Monday, December 2

At 10am, distribution will start for tickets to the Athens Symphony's Christmas concert on December 14 and 15th. The tickets are given on a first come/first served basis. Get your coffee and get in line at the Classic Center box office.

Double Dutch Press, a fine art printmaking studio in Normaltown, is celebrating its first year in operation. Come eat, drink, and pull your own print from 6 to 9 PM on Monday December 2nd.

Tuesday, December 3
The Northeast Health District’s Specialty Care Clinic (Ryan White HIV clinic) is partnering with AIDS Athens and the Athens Neighborhood Health Center to offer free HIV testing in recognition of World AIDS Day from December 2 through December 5, 2013. The testing will be anonymous and pain-free!

The West Broad Farmers Market is a community-driven, education-oriented, monthly farmers market that supports local economical development & community wellness. The market features craft, produce and prepared food vendors and is held at the old West Broad school/ Rutland Academy. 4pm.

The Starting A Business workshop covers important tools and resources a business owner needs to establish a solid foundation during its early formative years. Join us for this 3 hr. interactive program, which costs $69. 6pm

The ACC Commission and Mayor have their monthly voting meeting tonight at 7pm in the chambers of City Hall. To view the agenda, click here.

Come and celebrate Athens Latino Center for Language and Service's annual awards ceremony! The ceremony will be held at Green Acres Baptist Church at 2085 Barnett Shoals Rd in Athens GA from 7pm-9pm.  Food will be provided by Little Bull Bar & Grill and Sr. Sol. 7pm

Grace by DanceFX at the Morton Theatre, 7:30-9:30pm. Grace is an elegant and introspective dance performance to get you warmed up for the holiday season. With live music, a few holiday tunes and beautiful music, Grace is a fantastic

Wednesday, December 4th
Author Snowden Wright visits Avid Bookshop at 6:30pm to talk about his latest book, Play Pretty Blues, and to sign copies. In this debut novel, Wright brings to life the man behind the legend of blues great Robert Johnson through the voices of Johnson’s six wives.

Thursday, December 5th
The Georgia Museum of Art is holding a Holiday Book Sale at 10m. Comb, peruse and buy. 

At 7pm, at Dougherty and Hull, come enjoy the Downtown Parade of Lights. See the floats! Catch the candy! Wave to the Commissioners! and see Santa and Mrs. Claus bring up the rear. What fun!

At 7pm, join national Move To Amend organizer David Cobb tat Two Story Coffee o discuss strategies for amending the US Constitution to clarify that corporations are not persons with constitutional rights, and that money is not free speech.

At 8pm, in the Hugh Hodgson Concert Hall, join the Athens Choral Society for an evening of Christmas music, Thursday, December 5th, at 8:00 p.m. The concert will feature the chorus singing John Rutter's "Gloria" and Randol Bass' "Gloria" with brass and organ accompaniment. Enjoy singing along with the chorus to favorite traditional carols arranged by David Willcocks.
