The Last Week of 2013: Go Out with a Bang, Not a Whimper

Good-bye, 2013, and hello, New Year!

Athens Mothers Center
9:30 to 11:30am, Covenant Presbyterian Church at Gaines School Road. For all mothers who are new to Athens, or in search of a support group, who have or will have children. People meet and talk. Children are welcome and childcare is provided.

Georgia Square Mall, New Year's Eve Fireworks Display
4 to 8pm
There will be music from The Athens Band and others, food & drink, giant inflatable bouncers for children, face painting, mall promotion and a giant fireworks show at 8pm.

New Year's Eve at the Melting Point and Foundry Park Inn
There are a variety of packages for celebrating the arrival of the New Year. You can spend the night at the hotel, eat lots of yummy food and dance to the music of the Swingin' Medallions. Click here to see all your options.

New Year's Eve at Hotel Indigo and the Rialto Room
You can attend a concert by the Highballs and dance your tootsies off, then zip upstairs to your eco-chic hotel room for a good night's sleep. For pricing options, click here.

The Whigs are playing at the Georgia Theatre, along with Velveteen Pink and New Madrid. The cover is $17.50 and the show starts at 8pm. Oh, did I say the Whigs are playing?

The 40 Watt Club is featuring Radiolucent. The doors open at 9, the show starts at 10pm. 

Buffalo's Southwest Cafe is featuring Ron Putnam. Doors open at 7pm. Bring your dancing shoes and $15 if you haven't bought your tickets in advance.


January 1
In town for one night only, Mohanalakshmi Rajakumar of Doha, Qatar will be at The Coffee Shop of Athens at 6:30pm to discuss life and love in Qatar and sign copies of her latest novel LOVE COMES LATER (available for purchase at the event).
