"The Walking Dead" Producer Visits Athens and Other Activities

If you plan your week, you can attend more than one event!



On Tuesday, Gale Anne Hurd, producer of "The Walking Dead," will be on campus in the Richard Russell Special Collections Libraries Building for a 2pm interview with Grady professor Nate Kohn.

On Tuesday at 8pm, the University Theatre will be doing "Doubt: A Parable" in the cellar theater of the Fine Arts Building. 

Celebrated author Charles McNair wrote Land O'Goshen, which was nominated for the 1994 Pulitzer Prize. On Tuesday, at 6:30pm, he'll be in Avid Bookshop, signing copies of his new, long-awaited novel Pickett's Charge. He's the book editor of Paste Magazine in Atlanta.

The State Botanical Garden holds a course entitled "Plants and Pollinators: Co-dependence and Conservation" on Wednesday at 8:30am. The $50 course is an elective for classes leading to a certificate in Native Plants.

There's another book signing on Wednesday at 7pm, but this one is at Hendershot's and it features musical tributes as well as books. The book in question is Bruce, by Peter Ames Carlin. Admission is $5, with proceeds benefitting Nuci's Space. On Thursday, at 6:30pm, Carlin will be signing books at Avid Bookshop.

On Wednesday at 8pm, there's a Taize Service at the Episcopal Center on Lumpkin Street. The service is an interdenominational service involving repetitive music and extended silence. All are welcome.

The Athens-Clarke County Library begins a new three-part Lunchtime Learning @Your Library series focused on personal safety and crime prevention, on Thursday, September 26, at 12:15 p.m. The session is free and open to the public. 

UGA professor Ed Pavlić will read from his new book of poetry on Thursday at 7:30pm at Ciné. The book is called "Visiting Hours at the Color Line,” and it was published in July 2013 by Milkweed Editions. The reading is free.
