I have been taking my son to Shoki for his birthday every year for at least 9 years. This year I made the reservation and went early 5:30 to avoid the rush. The first thing I noticed was the sign on the door saying they no longer had a liquor license. We were then seated in a room with several toddlers which was obviously the designated "kids" room. That was a bit of a disappointment. Service was lackluster. It was 40 minutes before we saw the chef. He did his thing with no talking and no real show except the onion volcano. They made no acknowledgment of my son's birthday which they had done in the past The vegetables were burned. We tried to make the best of it, but it was such a disappointing experience for all four of us. We always looked forward to our trips to Shoki, but we have decided to find another place to celebrate our birthdays in the future. Something has really changed there-and not for the better.
