Authorities Arrest Three Suspects for the Murder of Edward Davidson in Athens, Ga.

  Athens-Clarke County Police and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) have charged three Athens-Clarke County residents in connection with the November 26, 2012, death of Edward Davidson at 400 Jefferson River Rd. Charged with the murder and burglary are Anthony Fuller, 16, Altarstone Dr, Justin Baughns, 22, Lavender Rd, and Dwayne Myers, 30, Lavender Rd. All are currently in the custody of the Clarke County Sheriff’s Office. Ringing Cell Phone Signals Arrest in Downtown Athens, Ga.

  A 43-year-old woman told police that she was at the intersection of College Avenue and Clayton Street at 1:30am on November 4 when a man assaulted her. She described his appearance to an officer and they found Anthony Lamar Zachary, 49, of Herring Street. The woman told police officers that Zachary had come up to her and grabbed her on the buttocks and "her private area," then made inappropriate comments to her when she tried to move away from him. As the police officer was talking to Zachary, a cell phone in Zachary's pocket kept ringing. A man from Greenville, SC, came up to the officer, said his phone had been stolen and that he had tracked it to Zachary. The Greenville man took the phone, unlocked it and silenced it. Cassandra Norwood, 21, Accused of Murdering Her Own Newborn, Enters Jail

"Praying for you and your family," was posted on Norwood's Facebook wall.

She or someone else changed her profile picture on Facebook at the end of October. She or someone else "liked" the website Digital Gravel on October 27. And just a few days later, police believe, 21-year-old Cassandra Norwood gave birth in her parents' Waverly Woods home, alone, and then afterwards stabbed her newborn son to death. She was transferred on Friday to the Clarke County Jail from Athens Regional, where she had gone to recover from the blood loss she experienced during the birth. According to a story in the Athens Banner Herald, she has been charged with two counts of murder and one count of aggravated assault. Police Offer $1,000 Reward After 89-year-old Woman Bound and Robbed

The victim thinks one of the robbers may have visited her home before.

  The Athens Clarke County Police are offering a $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of two Hispanic men accused of being involved in a home invasion. The victim, an 89-year-old woman who was home alone, was tied up and robbed, according to an ACCPD press release. A Facebook post by the police says: On 10/29/2012 at about 11:40 am, officers responded to a home invasion robbery in the 4000 block of Lexington Road. The victim, an 89 year old female, reported that two suspects came and knocked on her door. When she opened the door, the suspects forced their way in. The suspects tied the victim up and took various items of jewelry. The suspects left in a light gray or white in color van with a ladder rack.  The suspects were described…

Oconee Business Owner Helps Catch Burglary Suspect

Daniven B. Parks was arrested on an Athens Transit bus Friday morning, four hours after Precision Transmission was burglarized, authorities say.

Update: 2:20 p.m.: Parks has also been charged with burglary in the second degree. The dollar amount for the theft by taking under new revisions of the law will make that charge a misdemeanor instead of a felony, authorities said. The owner of Precision Transmission for several weeks had suspected someone was burglarizing the business, so he set up surveillance cameras in hopes of catching the person responsible for the scrap metal thefts.  Authorities said those efforts paid off early Friday morning. Around 4 a.m., employees arrived at the work shop located at 2681 Monroe Highway to find a man inside, Oconee County Chief Deputy Lee Weems said. Police Search for Dollar General Robber

Dollar General Store on Atlanta Highway robbed Friday evening.

Police Friday night were searching for a man whom they believe robbed the Dollar General store on Atlanta Highway about 7 pm on Friday. Around 8pm, officers were stopping cars on Prince Avenue conducting a license and safety check and also looking out for the robber. The assailant was described as an African American man about 6 feet tall, wearing a hooded black sweatshirt, a black cap and khaki pants, according to the ACC PD Facebook page. The robber left the scene with an undetermined amount of cash. He was driving a white Chevrolet Monte Carlo with a Georgia tag, handicap plate beginning with PD28. Call 911 if you spot the car.
