Suspect Arrested After Robbing Liquor Store

Around 11pm on February 28, officers responded to an armed robbery that had just occurred at On the Way Package Store, 1097 Baxter Street. Employees told police that while they were cleaning the store, a man entered the store. He approached an employee, placed a knife to his neck, and walked him to the register. At knifepoint, the employee removed an unspecified amount of money and got a large scratch on his neck from the knife. The suspect then left the store and ran toward Evans Street. As officers searched the area, an Evans Street resident told an officer he had seen a man quickly walking down the street. The resident told the officers the man's name, and they found him at a nearby residence and took him into custody. After …

Jackson Woman Reports Robbery at Gunpoint in Athens, Ga.

The woman told police on Monday that she was sitting in her car on Commerce Road when a man known to her snatched her purse and prescription medications.

A woman reported to Athens-Clarke County Police on Monday that while she was sitting in her car, which was parked at a convenience store on Commerce Road, a man robbed her at gunpoint. According to a news release, the woman had just taken some medication around 5 p.m. when a man known to her approached and asked if she was going to give or sell him some of the medication. The woman told the man no and he walked away, the release states. He then went to a truck, returned to her car and pointed a gun at her, she told police.  The robber grabbed a purse with the medications inside and fled in a beige or light brown truck, last seen headed north on Commerce Road, according to the release. ACC Police Post Photo of Armed Robbery Suspect in Athens, Ga.

Ray Lee McDaniel is known to law enforcement officials in both Athens-Clarke and Oconee counties.

  Ray Lee McDaniel is thought to be responsible for robbing a Golden Pantry clerk at knifepoint over the weekend. 

Golden Pantry Clerk Robbed at Knifepoint of $232 in Athens, Ga.

  ACCPD responded to an armed robbery call at the Golden Pantry, 2350 West Broad Street, at 9:19pm, December 8. The clerk said he had been behind the counter, moving money from the cash register to the floor safe, when a white man stepped behind the counter, brandished a knife and demanded the money. The clerk stepped back and the suspect took $232 in cash. The suspect was described as white, approximately 30 years old, with a large tattoo on the left side of his neck, and missing several teeth. He was last seen wearing a black jacket and light colored jeans. Two witnesses followed the suspect out of the store, but lost contact near the end of Sycamore Drive.
