Drug Task Force Makes Arrest at Northcrest Drive Residence in Athens

A quantity of marijuana, a hand gun, scale, and cash were seized on Thursday. An arrest does not mean a conviction.

Members of the Northeast Georgia Drug Task Force on Thursday executed a search warrant at a residence on Northcrest Drive. According to a police, the action was in response to citizen complaints. A undisclosed quantity of marijuana was seized along with a hand gun, scale, and cash, police said. Corby L. Davenport, 42, of Colbert, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, violation of parole and failure to appear.  Madison County also placed a hold on Davenport, jail records confirmed. Another man was picked up on outstanding warrants in Madison County for child support and probation violation. Representatives from the Community Protection Division also cited the lease holder for ordinance violations. …

Man and Woman Arrested on Cocaine Possession, Dealing Charges

The information in this story comes from the Athens-Clarke County Police Department. An arrest doesn't mean a conviction.

An Athens man and woman were arrested Thursday after police found a pill bottle with recently made crack cocaine in the backseat of their car, according to an Athens-Clarke County Police report.  Police approached a vehicle behind the Lyndon House at about 1:30 a.m. to investigate why the car was there so late at night. When the officer approached the vehicle, he saw a woman in the passenger seat pulling up her pants.  According to the report, the officer recognized Tory Favors, 20, in the front seat. Favors had previously been searched in the same car, and was familiar to the officer on patrol. The woman in the car was identified as Martika Whitehead, 20. Favors told police his girlfriend needed to change clothes, which was why they were …

Weird Police News: Lost Shoe, Found Woman and More

Click on the links for more details. An Athens woman on the run after a traffic stop lost a shoe in the process. It wasn't Prince Charming, but rather Oconee County Sheriff's deputies, who found her sandal and then later the woman. She was hiding in the nearby woods, covered in leaves and sticks. She faces several charges, including fleeing an officer, and a plastic bag containing a white powdery substance also was found in the car. Umm, did this man really think this would work? Report: Megachurch Pastor Creflo Dollar Arrested

Dollar, whose World Changers church has a satellite in Athens, Ga., was charged with simple battery in Fayette County, WSB-TV in Atlanta reports.

Creflo Dollar Jr., whose megachurch World Changers has a satellite church in Athens, has been arrested and charged with simple battery in Fayette County, Ga., WSB-TV in Atlanta reports. Dollar runs Creflo Dollar Ministries, and his main World Changers Church is in College Park. The Athens satellite meets at the Classic Center. He's often mentioned in lists of prominent Georgia pastors. The TV station did not have further details on the arrest.

Dog Bites and Beer Drinkers: Just Another Day at the Grocery Store

Here are some of the stranger Northeast Georgia police stories of the week.

Nothing on TV? Head on down to a Barrow County supermarket, where there's always something interesting going on. At the Publix in Winder, a man agreed to hold a chihuahua for another customer who said he was going in to claim a winning lottery ticket. Police were called after the man reported the chihuahua bit him on the nose and cut his upper lip. The same day at the Winder Ingles, a man was charged with public intoxication after refusing to stop drinking his beer outside the store. He'd been sitting with another man and woman at an outdoor table. Other unusual arrests:

Arrestee to Officer: ‘You Have a Lot of [Expletive Deleted] Nerve’

Gwinnett woman's 911 call results in her own arrest

In nearby Gwinnett County, a Dacula woman found herself in handcuffs after refusing to listen to reason. On April 19, police were dispatched to the area of Auburn Road and Dacula Road (near Ingles) in response to a domestic disturbance. The disturbance was reportedly underway at a business called “Friendly’s.” The officer could not locate a business by that name in the area and asked dispatch to contact the caller and verify the location. Dispatch contacted the caller, later identified as Jennifer Dunahoo of 3051 Michelle Lee Drive in Dacula, and asked her where she was. Dunahoo then said she was at the Sonic on Dacula Road. The officer eventually located Dunahoo at Friends Sports Grill. In the arrest report, the officer wrote, “The …

  A resident of Old Hull Rd said his sister’s 1993 Lincoln Town Car was stolen between 1am and 7am on January 28. A man said his 2008 Suzuki GS 250 motorcycle was stolen from his West Broad Street residence. The incident occurred between 6am and 7pm on January 28. On January 28 officers were serving an arrest warrant on Shannon Faust at her Langford Court residence. Faust was handcuffed and then became unruly; Faust refused to get in the patrol car and kicked one of the police officers. Faust was charged with Simple Battery on LEO, Obstruction and served with a warrant. On January 29 officers were called to North Bluff Road regarding gunshots in the area.
