Bogart Man Booked into Athens-Clarke County Jail on Burglary Charge

The 19-year-old is accused of busting into a Luke Road home last week.

A 19-year-old resident of Stonehenge Place that was wanted in connection with the burglary of an occupied home on Luke Road in Bogart last Wednesday is behind bars in Athens-Clarke County. Demarcus Veron Ellison was booked into the jail early Monday, according to jail records. The Athens Banner-Herald reports Ellison has been in trouble with the law before and was on probation at the time he's accused of kicking in the door of a disabled veteran. Bond has been set at $5,000 for the burglary charge but the Oconee County Sheriff's Office has placed a hold on Ellison for theft of a dirt bike. UPDATE: Athens Police Looking for Burglary Suspect

A search was conducted in the area of Luke Road in Bogart, Ga.

Authorities Wednesday afternoon were searching a section of Bogart for a suspect originally thought to have been involved in a home invasion. Athens-Clarke County Police later clarified, according to the Athens Banner-Herald, that a man kicked in a door to a residence in the area of Luke Road off of Fowler Mill Road, realized someone was home, and ran. Hilda Sorrow, ACCPD public information assistant, said a resident of the home had been sleeping around 1:10 p.m. when he heard a noise. The resident awoke to find a man standing in the hallway, so he grabbed a handgun and pointed it at the intruder, Sorrow said. Upon seeing the victim and the gun, the man fled. Burglar Caught Running Away From Scene

A man was arrested for burglary Friday after residents woke to a disturbance, according to an Athens-Clarke County Police press release.  The residents told police they woke to find a man in the house. After the residents called 911, the man fled. A nearby lawn maintenance worker pointed police in the right direction.  After a short chase, Anthony Maurice was arrested and charged with burglary.

Burglars Steal More TVs, Shoes, Quarters

A woman reported a burglary at her residence on Claystone Woods Road between Wednesday and Friday, according to an Athens-Clarke County Police press release. A TV and DVR were found missing.  A man on Winterville Road reported a Winchester shotgun misssing from his mother's home. Another man on Crowe's Nest Court said his home was burglarised between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. on Friday. More TVs and Game Stations Stolen

A West Hancock Avenue was burglarized between noon Monday and noon Tuesday, according to an Athens-Clarke County Police press release. TVs, a bicycle and an unspecified video game console system was stolen. The total value was $2,600.  Another Athens resident on Connally Circle reported his apartment burglarized between Monday and Friday at midnight. Woman Punched by Fellow Christmas Partier

An Athens was punched and knocked unconcious after leaving a Christmas party on Tuesday at about 10 p.m, according to an Athens-Clarke County Police press release. The woman told police that after leaving the gathering, someone began following her. She said the last thing she remembered is the man approaching her outside where she lived. When she woke up, she was inside with a swollen eye.  The investigation is ongoing.

Stolen Pizza Ovens, Other Burgled Items

A pizza oven was stolen from a Baxter Street location on Wednesday, according to an Athens-Clarke County Police press release. The pizza oven was valued at $6,000. Although a suspect has been named, no arrests have been made. Batteries were stolen out of two trucks owned by omni source at Old Hull Road. The battery charger and pressure washer from each truck were also stolen. The items were valued at $1500.

Papa John's Employee Receives Fake Order, Has Pizza and Money Stolen

An unknown person stole pizza and an undetermined amount of money from a Papa John's Pizza employee Wednesday night, according to an Athens-Clarke County Police report.  The delivery worker told police that he attempted a delivery on Broad Acres Court around 11:30 p.m. When he knocked on the door of the apartment, the resident said she had not ordered a pizza. When the worker turned to go back to his vehicle, a short, black man with dreads approached him, took his pizza and asked if he had change for $100. He took an undisclosed amount of money from the worker and left.  No arrests have been made.

Burglary Troubles on Riverbend Parkway, Almost $1500 worth of TVs Stolen

Several apartments at University apartments were broken into and had TVs stolen between 10 p.m. on Tuesday and 3 p.m. Wednesday, according to an Athens-Clarke County Police press release.  Representatives of the apartments reported that $1350 worth of TVs had been stolen from the apartments located on the 500 block of Riverbend Parkway.  Officers patrolling at Riverbend Club Apartments on Riverbend Parkway also reported that open windows were found. As the residents were not available, they were unable to determine if anything was missing.  Two residences were also burgled on Riverbend Parkway. One resident had her personal TV stolen along with a University Apartments TV. Her silver 2001 Audi A4 was also stolen, and is valued at $9,000. …

Truck Stolen During Holidays

A local woman's truck was reported stolen from her Hwy 29 N residence during the Christmas holidays, according to an Athens-Clarke County Police press report. The woman told police that the truck was taken between 11 p.m. on Christmas Eve and 11 a.m. on Christmas. The truck is a blue 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 with a spoiler on the rear.
