TGIF: remember just one thing in Athens, Ga.!

  You still have two full days to shop the Habitat ReStore during its annual summer 25 percent off sale. Located on Barber Street, the ReStore gets all sorts of donations--appliances, furniture, funishings, dishes, architectural features, building supplies, homre decore, books, clothing and some electronics. If you can't find it, you don't need it. The store is open today from 9am to 5pm, so start shopping and don't stop until 4pm on Saturday. All the money from this sale goes to help local families searching for, needing and finding affordable housing. Since donations flow in and merchandise flows out, it's best to stop in regularly to see what they might have. Kind of like TJ-Maxx in that way. The people who work at the ReStore are so …

Today at 10:30am, staff from the ACC Library Children’s Area will be in the Clarke Central High School auditorium for a Storytelling Concert. The library is undergoing construction, so events such as these will take place at CCHS throughout the summer. 3. Cartoon artist Robert Brown will be at The Lyndon House Arts Center this evening to head an informal gathering of teen illustrators and comic artists. 1. The USPS has announced it will close and consolidate nearly 250 post offices, and Athens' Olympic Dr. processing and distribution center will be one of them.  2. Do you love ART? Well then, visit the Lyndon House Arts Center for the FLOAT exhibition and, the UpCycle exhibition at ATHICA.  3. Visit Sandy Creek Park tonight for a moonlit canoe ride on Lake Chapman, from 9p-11p. Some interesting things going on this weekend, including the Athens Tour of Kitchens.

Have you ever been on the Athens Tour of Kitchens?  Well, this year, there are five good reasons you should.  First, the proceeds go toward the Georgia Children's Chorus, a 100-voice strong choir.  Second, they will also perform a taste of their spring concert at 11 a.m. at The Hill.   Third, there are nine homes on tour, including some built in the early 19th century.  They range from traditional in architecture and style to ultra-modern.
