Clarke County Mentor Program Holding Fund-raising Breakfast on Jan. 24

Donations are accepted at this free event.

  Curtis Carver was one. Bobby Snipes is one. Countless others in Athens are ones. Because mentors come in all shapes, sizes, colors and ages. The Clarke County Mentor Program is holding its annual fund-raising breakfast this Thursday at 7:30am, at the Holiday Inn on Broad Street. The event is free, but donations and scholarships are accepted and appreciated, according to director Paula Shilton. Speaking at the event will be Curtis Carver, the chief information officer for the Georgia Board of Regents. He was a mentor to cadets at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, and has been a mentor to many people in the United States government.
