Chase Street Elementary One of Eight Georgia Schools Honored in Washington

The Clarke County school was designated a National Blue Ribbon School earlier this year.

Chase Street Elementary School received a plaque and a flag from U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan in Washington on Tuesday. The honors were in recognition of the school's status as a National Blue Ribbon School. Chase Street was one of seven public and one private school in Georgia to receive the designation, which, according to a news release, "distinguishes and honors schools for helping students achieve at very high levels and for making significant progress in closing the achievement gap." Chase Street Elementary Named a National Blue Ribbon School

Only seven public schools in Georgia received this designation.

  Today U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan named seven Georgia public schools 2012 National Blue Ribbon Schools. One of those was Chase Street Elementary School, which was distinguished as an dramatically improving school. The No Child Left Behind Blue Ribbon Schools award singles out schools for helping students achieve at very high levels and for making significant progress in closing the achievement gap. "I congratulate these seven schools for being recognized as 2012 National Blue Ribbon Schools," said State School Superintendent Dr. John Barge. "The students, teachers and staff of these schools should be proud of their success. These schools are shining examples of what happens when everyone is focused on student learning." Blue …
