Oconee County Sheriff's Deputies surrounded a house in Oconee County off Barnett Shoals Road and arrested Ray Lee McDaniel on Tuesday afternoon, according to a story in the Athens Banner Herald. McDaniel is a suspect in the Saturday night robbery of the Golden Pantry on Broad Street. The deputies found McDaniel at a relatives' house.

ACCPD responded to an armed robbery call at the Golden Pantry, 2350 West Broad Street, at 9:19pm, December 8. The clerk said he had been behind the counter, moving money from the cash register to the floor safe, when a white man stepped behind the counter, brandished a knife and demanded the money. The clerk stepped back and the suspect took $232 in cash. The suspect was described as white, approximately 30 years old, with a large tattoo on the left side of his neck, and missing several teeth. He was last seen wearing a black jacket and light colored jeans. Two witnesses followed the suspect out of the store, but lost contact near the end of Sycamore Drive.
