Police Searching for Man Accused of Robbery, Assaulting Officer

Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the apprehension of Rickie Korey "Woo" Powell. Police say he "should be considered violent and dangerous."

Police are searching for a man they say assaulted an Athens-Clarke County officer with a vehicle during the robbery of BP Gas Station at 4000 Lexington Road on April 18. There are active warrants in Rickie Korey "Woo" Powell's name for robbery by force, aggravated assault, aggravated assault on a police officer, and obstruction, police said. According to a Nixle alert, Powell's last known address was Old Farmington Road in Bishop. "He is known to frequently visit Clarke County to include the areas of: Bailey Street; Epps Bridge Road; Martin Circle; Milledge Avenue; Whitehall Road; Downtown," the alert states. Man Robbed After Leaving Athens Convenience Store

A man told Athens-Clarke County police that he was robbed of $500 early Wednesday shortly after withdrawing the cash from an ATM at Murphy Express on Lexington Road. The victim told officers that he made a purchase and withdrew the money around 2 a.m. As he exited the store, he says two black men asked if he wanted to buy some drugs. He said he told them no and started walking west on Lexington Road. As the victim neared Reed Street, he says he was struck from behind and his wallet containing the cash was snatched from his rear pocket. When he turned around, he says he recognized the two men from the convenience store. Man Beaten, Robbed at Girlfriend's Athens Home

Police say a woman returned to her Zebulon Drive residence to find missing electronics.

A man responding to a knock on the door at a Zebulon Drive residence was rushed by several strangers who took a video game system and television, according to a media release from Athens-Clarke County Police. A woman told police she returned home on Monday to find her boyfriend on the floor bleeding from his lip. He said he was awakend by knocking, and when he opened the door a man was standing with his back to the door. When he opened the screen door, he was rushed and a fight ensued. The boyfriend told police he believed four men were involved with the robbery. The stolen electronics were valued at $446. UGA Student Tells Cops He Was Beaten and Robbed

The attack reportedly occurred outside a Prince Avenue convenience store.

A UGA student told Athens-Clarke County police officers he was the victim of a robbery and a beating late Sunday night. According to a police report, the student said the incident happened when he was leaving a convenience store at Prince Avenue and Barber Street around 11:45 p.m. on Feb. 10. He recalled hearing someone say, “Hey,” and as he turned, he says he was tackled to the ground. The alleged victim believes that while he was on the ground, two men went through his pockets and removed his wallet which contained identification, a debit card, and maybe $1, the police report says. Crime Blotter--House Robbed on Cedar Shoals Drive

The robbery happened in daytime with a girl at home.

  Burglars came calling at a house on Cedar Shoals Drive between 1 and 2:30pm on Tuesday, and they left with $1,100 worth of electronics, video game systems and a video game, according to an Athens Clarke County Police report. A girl was in the house, home from school with an illness. Around 1pm, two young black men knocked on the door, asking for a "Mike." They left when she told them Mike didn't live there. The girl described the men as being in their 20s, one wearing a black shirt and the other a brown shirt, the report said. A short time afterwards, the girl heard a noise downstairs which she thought was the air conditioner or ice maker. But, according to the report, it was actually burglars.   A Spring Valley Road residence was burglarized between 3pm on March 29 and 2am on March 30. Jewelry valued at $3,000 was stolen. This was not reported until April 2.  Officers responded to a burglary in progress at a Marlin Street residence around 1:20pm on April 2. The resident said he found the back door open and heard someone running in the woods. Officers checked the area and located a witness who said he saw a high school age black male wearing a red shirt and black pants running through the yard toward Ruth Street.  After checking the area, officers were unable to locate him.  A desk top computer valued at $1,200 was stolen.  Around 3:30pm on April 2, a white male entered Wendy's, 415 Prince Ave, and asked to cash a check. Crime Blotter -- Woman Steals Car, Gets Caught, Gets Arrested

  Around 12:27am on January 24 officers responded to a stolen vehicle complaint at the Golden Pantry, 2350 W Broad St. A Sycamore Drive resident said he went in the store to make a purchase. During that time a female entered his 2004 Toyota Camry and drove away in it. A lookout was issued for the vehicle. A short time later an officer saw the vehicle on the Atlanta Hwy and made traffic stop near the Hwy 78/29 intersection. The car owner was transported to that location and he identified the driver as the person he saw drive off in his vehicle. Police Search for Dollar General Robber

Dollar General Store on Atlanta Highway robbed Friday evening.

Police Friday night were searching for a man whom they believe robbed the Dollar General store on Atlanta Highway about 7 pm on Friday. Around 8pm, officers were stopping cars on Prince Avenue conducting a license and safety check and also looking out for the robber. The assailant was described as an African American man about 6 feet tall, wearing a hooded black sweatshirt, a black cap and khaki pants, according to the ACC PD Facebook page. The robber left the scene with an undetermined amount of cash. He was driving a white Chevrolet Monte Carlo with a Georgia tag, handicap plate beginning with PD28. Call 911 if you spot the car.
