Staycation Destination: Snow Mountain

Visit the winter wonderland and have fun playing in the snow now through mid-February 2013.

Have you visited Stone Mountain's Snow Mountain yet? This winter wonderland is just a short drive from Athens. Snow Mountain offers guests of all ages a variety of activities that involve that white, cold, fluffy stuff we wait all year to play in. Man made snow and lots of it awaits visitors at the park. Snow Mountain remains open through January and even a few weeks into February, closing on Feb. 18, 2013. Here are several of the activities you may choose to enjoy when visiting the mountain: Avalanche Alley: Family tube ride for guests at least 36" tall, max of 5 riders per tube. Woman to Serve 12 Years in Prison for Running Over Ex - Douglasville Patch A Hiram woman will serve 12 years in prison after news of a break-up drove her to run over an ex-boyfriend with a SUV, according to District Attorney David McDade. Vanessa Marie Garrett-Rogers, 28, received a 30-year sentence from Chief Superior Court Judge Robert J. James after entering a guilty plea to charges of aggravated battery, aggravated assault and leaving the scene of an accident. Once out of prison, Garrett-Rogers will serve the remaining 18 years on probation. She is also required to pay $57,850.46 in restitution to the victim.
