Welcome back, Students, but Stay Safe
Jim worries about the problems caused by excessive alcohol consumption.
I started noticing a week or so ago trucks with bed frames and dressers and love seats and all sorts of other furnishings making their way around town as our university students began trickling back into town. The trickle will become a torrent as first the Greek sisters and brothers prepare for new classes of members and then all the students will return for classes. The traffic will get heavier. The Milledge Avenue sidewalks will fill up with walkers and runners equipped with running gear and headphones. The drums and horns sections of the Recoat band will stir the evening air. Student hangouts and restaurants will be packed. Much as we residents treasure the quiet of summer, without the return of our university students, life would be …
