Openings include adult services coordinator, receptionist/secretary and public services desk assistant.

The following jobs are openings with the Athens-Clarke County Library:

Adult services coordinator — Supervises adult information services areas of the library, including reference services, readers advisory, local history/genealogy and computer assistance to the public. This employee plans, develops, implements and evaluates the projects, programs and activities of Reference Services and the Heritage Room. Applicants must have an MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited university and four years of progressively responsible experience in a public library, including previous managerial and supervisory experience. Click here to apply. 

Receptionist/secretary — Provides reception and secretarial support to the Administration Division of the Athens Regional Library System located at the Athens-Clarke County Library. Duties include but are not limited to answering the phone, preparing mail, renewing books, booking meeting rooms, typing, making copies, faxing, pulling books on hold, preparing PINES transit and interlibrary loan materials for mailing, organizing supplies, preparation for administration meetings and performing additional tasks as assigned. Qualifications include graduation from a standard high school and four years of college or business school or satisfactory equivalent combination of training and experience. Knowledge of customer service principles and practices vital. Computer experience/keyboard skills desirable. Click here for details.

Public services desk assistant/shelver — Position requires working four hours each Saturday covering public services desks at the Athens-Clarke County Library. The person in this position may work at the Information Desk, Heritage Room, Children’s Area, Teen Area and/or Technology Desk providing reference and computer assistance to library patrons. Position requires knowledge of reference interview techniques, knowledge of basic reference sources and excellent communication, computer and public service skills. High school diploma and some college required. Public library experience preferred. Click here for more information and to apply.
