Fourth of July Holiday Schedule for Athens Clarke County Offices

All the county pools, except Bishop Park, will be open on the Fourth of July, as will the splash pad in the East Athens Community Park. Here's information about what's open and what's closed, taken from the ACC Website.

Solid Waste, Leisure Services, General ACC Office Schedules Altered for Independence Day Holiday

Solid Waste
The Athens-Clarke County Solid Waste Department will suspend garbage and recycling collections on Thursday, July 4 in recognition of the Independence Day holiday.

• Solid Waste offices will be closed on Thursday, July 4.
  
• Residential garbage and recycling normally collected on Thursday, July 4 will be picked up on Friday, July 5. All other collections days remain the same.
  
• Commercial curbside, roll cart and dumpster garbage and recycling services in the Downtown District will be collected as regularly scheduled. All other commercial curbside and commercial dumpster garbage and recycling services normally collected on Thursday, July 4 will be picked up on Friday, July 5.
  
• Leaf & Limb collections will be suspended in the Glen Oaks, Holly Hills, Kingswood, Wood Lake, Wichersham Plantation, Stonehenge, Deerfield, Holiday Estates, High Ridge, Woodhaven, Westwood Hills, and Huntington Park areas on Thursday, July 4.
  
• The landfill will be closed on Thursday, July 4.

Leisure Services

• ACC Leisure Services parks are under regular hours of operation on Thursday, July 4.
  
• All other Leisure Services facilities (Sandy Creek Nature Center, Lyndon House Arts Center, all community centers) will be closed on Thursday, July 4.
  
• All facilities will reopen Friday, July 5 under regular hours of operation.
  
• Bishop Park will host the Star-Spangled Classic on Thursday, July 4 beginning at 6:00 p.m.
  
• Pools at East Athens Community Center, Lay Park, Memorial Park, and Rocksprings Park will be open 1:00-5:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 4. The Bishop Park pool will be closed. Admission is $1 per person.
  
• The splash pad at East Athens Community Park will be open 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. The splash pad at Rocksprings Park will operate during regular pool hours of 1:00-5:30 p.m. Admission is $1 per person. The admission fee at the Rocksprings Park splash pad includes access to the pool.

Other Offices
All general departmental administrative offices and facilities (City Hall, Courthouse, Satula Avenue Building, Dougherty Street Governmental Building) will be closed on Thursday, July 4. Regular hours of operation will resume on Thursday, July 5.
